Foyle Search Receives Grant from Department for Transport

Foyle Search & Rescue have received confirmation of a grant from the Department for Transport, for flood rescue equipment and training totaling £13,021.54.

The Inshore and Inland rescue boat grant scheme gives voluntary groups crucial funding for new equipment and training to support their rescue efforts in and around inland and inshore waterways.

Members of the Public will be aware of Foyle Search & Rescues role in the City which includes Swift Water Rescue Teams that can be dispatched anywhere in UK. These teams recently boosted their numbers with newly qualified Responders and Technicians. This grant will enable the Charity to properly equip these volunteers with Dry suits, Boots, Throwlines, Helmets and Personal Flotation devices, enabling them to continue with their lifesaving role.

Many other Search & Rescue Organisations have benefitted from this grant, with a total of £915,000 awarded nationally.
